Something about the bizarreness of concreting a huge ship into a tiny dock and eradicating rust appeal to me |
I was involved in setting up a car club which is now in it's fifteenth year. Edited the first two issues of the club's magazine and was membership secretary for ten years, still involved in the 'restoration team' and organise social events. Not quite the same scale but have restored a few old cars. Wrote the 2nd iteration of the club website which ran for seven years and when I got fed up of hand coding html moved it onto a Content Management System and trained other people how to add content. Know and understand how to administer websites, mailing lists, and email servers |

Fascinated by her when I first saw her |
Not sure really, I’m a photographer, I can do a bit of web design. I am an urbexer (like those on 28dayslater) also willing to pour money into the project |

I have a big interest in ships like people have with trains etc bigger the better but the Duke of Lancaster is what got me first started as a child as i always wanted to stop and have a look at her as a child on the way to Rhyl my birth place but my parents would not stop for me to have a look at her. but now I take a look at her every time i travel to north Wales with my better half and my children. |
I don't think my skills would be relevant as I'm a door engineer/mechanic |
the duke be put to good use |

I often wondered what it would be like to do something with the boat. I have a very extensive knowledge of the ship |
I am a mechanical engineer and a former member of the TA, so I don’t mind getting my fingers dirty so any restoration, I could help with |

I have a life long interest in ships/boats and maritime history. I am very passionate about the SS Duke of Lancaster and its future. (Two of my uncles served in The Royal Navy during The Falklands conflict and I had a great uncle also serving in The Royal Navy during WW ll.) As a child I used to pass the ship on days out in North Wales; UNFORGETTABLE!!

The Duke first caught my imagination when I was about 10 and we passed it on the way to Holiday in Rhyl. I’ve always had a fondness for her ever since. |
I am a Site Supervisor for a large Chester College, which entails all the Maintenance and Repairs of a large 55 year old building. I’ve owned numerous Classic Cars and numerous boats (nothing bigger than 18ft though), and consider myself a very ‘Hands-On’ guy. I’m also studying Nebosh at Night School which may be useful, as I’ve seen no other mention of Health & Safety in the relevant skills section. |
It’ll just be a good opportunity to hear different views and ideas from people who are truly interested in doing something about ‘The Duke’!!! |

First saw the ship as a child as the fun ship when visiting relatives. I have been fascinated by it since and am sad to see its decline. |
Practical skills that I have developed whilst restoring old motorbikes and cars. |
Finding out what the current owners plans are for the ship, and their attitude to an appreciation society being formed and getting involved |
